Self-driving is undoubtedly one of the most competitive industries at present! Whether they are traditional car companies, new technology companies or auto parts giants, they are all salivating over the huge slice of the self-driving market. Unlike the other two, it doesn't seem as if auto parts makers' self-driving moves and layouts are high profile or dominating the headlines. But that doesn't mean they aren't aggressive enough about the self-driving layout.
On this basis, the author has extracted some interesting information by analyzing the autonomous driving layout of the world's four auto parts giants -- Bosch, continental, zf and denso in recent years. (in no particular order)
Continental has a strong foundation in autonomous driving and was a leading maker of driver-assistance systems before announcing its move into autonomous driving.
Since launching the first projects for mercedes-benz s-class models in 1999, continental group has completed more than 100+ projects for global auto manufacturers. At the same time, in the display and user interface and power train system energy management design, also accumulated more experience.
Meanwhile, a series of mergers and acquisitions have also laid a solid foundation for continental's autonomous driving business. The following is the mainland group in the 21st century automotive electronics mergers and acquisitions.
Based on this, in October 2014, the mainland announced its initiatives related to autonomous driving before 2025. According to the plan, continental group will start to implement its autonomous driving layout in phases in 2018. See below for details:
In addition, digital maps, connectivity issues between infrastructure (IT backend), and so on, will all be implemented in phases after 2018.
In order to successfully achieve the 2025 autonomous driving blueprint, continental group has actively cooperated with other enterprises and strengthened its autonomous driving road test.
Among them, it is worth mentioning that the results of the cooperation between continental group and IBM also apply to public transportation, insurance, retail and other fields. The cooperation between continental group and IBM ended at the end of 2014. In addition, continental's Electronic Horizon, developed with nokia, will allow cars to be accurately positioned within 3-8 feet. Continental hopes the partnership will lead to the platform being rolled out to global car suppliers, with Electronic Horizon cars rolling off production lines by 2020.
In 2017, countries around the world entered a new phase of autonomous driving technology. Continental has stepped up cooperation on autonomous driving.
Recently, the mainland group and nextev signed another contract, this is their second cooperation. In 2014, shortly after the establishment of nextev, continental group provided a number of advanced technologies and solutions for its first mass production vehicle, ES8. This time, the two sides have deepened their cooperation on nextev manufacturing platforms, including wireless charging, autonomous driving, intelligent cockpit, new-generation braking systems and suspension systems. Meanwhile, continental will continue to provide nextev ES8 electric SUV with relevant automotive technologies, including air suspension system and tires.
In addition, continental group's self-driving car road test project is also actively underway. Its first road test program began in 2008 and has been licensed in several countries. In December 2012, continental received a license to test self-driving cars on Nevada's roads, becoming the first auto parts supplier to receive public road tests there. Continental has conducted self-driving tests in Germany, the United States and Japan, and its self-driving test vehicles have accumulated more than 72,000 miles. It is worth noting that in August 2016, continental group officially launched its self-driving test car in China and will start road testing in China.
At present, the layout of continental group's autonomous driving is still in progress. According to its 2025 autonomous driving blueprint, the mainland will introduce different autonomous driving technologies in stages from 2018. Time is running out for the mainland. Look forward to its performance in the future!
